What Is TREPAC and Why Texas REALTORS® Invest in Protecting Property Rights

Many real estate professionals talk about TREPAC, but consumers and even some agents may not fully understand what it is or why it plays such an important role in Texas real estate.

TREPAC, the Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee, exists to protect private property rights and promote policies that support homeownership, housing affordability, and a strong real estate market across Texas. Rather than supporting political parties, TREPAC supports candidates and initiatives that align with protecting real estate ownership and the ability to buy, sell, lease, and invest in property.

Why does this matter to homeowners and buyers? Because many decisions affecting property taxes, zoning, housing supply, landlord regulations, and development rules are made at local and state government levels. Without representation, policies could be passed that negatively impact property owners, landlords, tenants, and future home buyers.
